About Us

The National Student Health Awareness initiative is the culmination of over two years of planning and responding to the many health issues our students face in 2008.

Raising funds to support the initiative was one of the first and major issues for the three mums involved.
Hamiltons Laboratories came on board along with a number of others, allowing the web site to finally become a reality.

We sought the advice and direction from all of the health information providers involved to create an interactive educational website for you and your family.

To ensure that students are given an incentive to review the information and learn information that may well help you to avoid some of the health problems addressed a number of competitions were included for you. As each is entered as an individual the size of your school is irrelevant, anyone of you can win any of the prizes in each of the competitions.

When devising an interactive quiz we again sought input from experts and were fortunate to enlist the help of a leading health professional. He has not only offered advice and guidance but has put together 3 quizzes.

One for Primary Students, one for High School students and not to be left out, one specifically designed for teachers.

Once the students have sourced the correct answers to the 20 q’s in each quiz, they simply click onto the ‘submit’ button. All correct entries from each state will be entered into a draw for a variety of prizes including Wii console, Playstation 3 plus more.

The initiative will double as a fundraising opportunity for schools whereby families are offered the opportunity to purchase a pack of toastabags Bronze at 45% discount on rrp so that everyone can join in
(see fundraising product page) once again simply by purchasing a single pack and entering the unique code found on the back every purchase you are entered into random draws for further prize incentives. Of course the school benefits by a % of every pack but we also felt it was important to be proactive in addressing the health issues therefore, for every pack purchased a $1.50 will be donated to a variety of foundations all of whom benefit you students.

A third incentive was devised. All purchaser of the product are invited to create their own ‘recipe’ to cook in the toastabag. When students submit their culinary creation they will once again, automatically go into the draw for creativity prizes. At the completion of the fundraising aspect all of the recipes will be considered for inclusion in a ‘Students are doing it for themselves’ recipe book for health and success. All of the health information pages will also be recreated in the book which will have a foreword by Jamie Oliver who I think most of you know.

So, over two years of planning has brought about a health information site for students with incentives to learn and earn. We do hope that you will enjoy all of the different aspects of the www.nshai.com.au site.
Our sincere hope would be that students and perhaps even their families and teachers have a greater understanding of a range of health issues that may affect them or someone they know.

We also hope that a greater degree of understanding will encourage greater tolerance for those living with a medical problem and appreciation of your own good health.

Look after you and take care of those around you.

Best Wishes from the team at NSHAI 2008 & Beyond.
